The Level website supporting informed decisions

The Level is designed to support people to better understand their drug use and make informed decisions. This includes people using substances, as well as their friends and whānau.

A key challenge was how to present accurate, evidence-based information in a way that is approachable and easy to understand. Language in this space can be technical or clinical, while the people using the site may be more familiar with everyday or slang terms.

The platform also needed to handle a large amount of structured information, particularly within the drug index, while keeping content readable and easy to navigate.

At its core, the site needed to support people in real situations, making it easier to find relevant information and apply it in practice.

We collaborated closely with the Drug Foundation and their design agency to bring the experience to life, ensuring the platform supported both the content and the people using it.

A strong focus was placed on how information is structured and presented. This included developing flexible page types that break complex information into manageable sections, making it easier to read and navigate.

We also developed supporting functionality to improve understanding, such as a system for defining terms and phrases, allowing users to access explanations without disrupting their reading.

The platform was built to support the content team, giving them control over how information is managed and presented, while maintaining consistency across the site.

The Level makes it easier for people to engage with complex information, presenting it in a way that is clear, structured, and approachable.
